To the good stuff: I'm going to write ANOTHER blog about LA. I have lived here all my life. Well, just about all my life. From college on I've tried to escape. First Santa Cruz, then Whistler British Columbia and then Portland. Every time I moved somewhere, LA pulled me back. Next month marks the longest stretch I have lived in LA since I was 17. Although I've been here for over a year, I really haven't taken this city like I should. There's just so much to do, and I feel like I've done so little of it.
So what do I do now with my life? I work from home three times a week, commute 50 miles each way to Orange County the other two days. Most of my nights are filled with something Roller Derby related. So yeah, I do one cool thing in LA. But one cool thing does not a city make. I went to my first club-club the other week. Ick. I'm much more into the music scene. I love, love, love live music. I average anywhere from 30-60 shows a year. I'm a recovering music snob. I won't make people feel bad about their music anymore. I embrace my love of Kelly Clarkson. I like bands who you haven't heard of, but not because I want to be special, but because I like paying $10 for a show instead of $60.
Ticketmaster is, needless to say, the devil. Should be stated.
From now on I will try my damndest to do one interesting LA thing. Off-the-beaten-track and right on that heavily trodden road. I've been to LACMA, the Natural History Museum, most music venues, and other randoms. My first adventure? Stay tuned (it'll be Mother's Day and I don't want to spoil the surprise).
So yeah. That's all for now. Suggestions of places to go are always welcomed!!
